Regardless of age, each individual should incorporate physical fitness into their lives to stay healthy. Remember, at our very young age, our parents always encourage our tummy time and crawling, lead us to baby steps until we can finally walk on our own and explore.
A person who is physical fit is capable of enjoying life to its fullest. Fitness doesn’t only refer to being physically fit, it also refers to an individual’s mental state. You can achieve mental fitness when your body is functioning well. One need not to be an ultra-marathoner or a body builder to be considered fit. Just stick with the basics, fitness is first and foremost about feeling good and being able to move at ease and without feeling pain. True fitness is about feeling healthy and being in sufficient shape to enable you to do activities you want to enjoy and live the life you wanted.
When you aim to becoming physically fit, it will require a change in your lifestyle as well. This is when incorporating a regular exercise routine and eating healthy will step in. It is the best time to drive away from your bad habits like smoking and alcohol. Yourself will always be your topmost priority. Get enough rest and sleep, avoid junk foods and fizzy drinks. When you eliminate these unhealthy substances from your life, no matter how temporarily or how long the duration maybe, you are allowing yourself and your body to detoxify and recover to becoming stronger.
Spending more time outdoors, or just being out in the sun, enjoying some fresh air while on a brisk walk will surely make a difference in your life. Take part in more healthy activities which you will also enjoy. Try bicycling, swimming, fishing, hiking or even playing football with your kids or neighbors. Doing simple activities with your family will not only improve your physical fitness, but more importantly, it will connect the bond in your family. Quality time with your loved ones is something we can choose to give but would not cost us anything, it is precious.
An individual who is mentally and physically fit will be strong enough to face ups and downs of life. They would not be easily affected by drastic changes should they take place. Their disposition in life becomes strong and defined. We should always remember that a healthy mind resides only in a healthy body. When our mind and body are both in good state, we are able to maintain the required energy level to achieve success in our lives. A wholesome health is what we should all be striving for.
To ensure we are looking out on the key physical components of our life, we must take into consideration the following: Mental rest and relaxation like yoga; Balanced Diet which involves nutrition and supplementation; Cardiovascular and Aerobic conditioning; Strength training, stretching and muscular development; Core stability and Regular sleep.
Staying healthy and fit is not difficult if only taken as our foremost priority. When we maintain our balance of thoughts, keep ourselves active, we will be headed towards a healthy, fit, meaningful and fruitful life.
It is never too late to make any changes in our lives especially if one is aiming for a better future ahead. Take one step a time. Initiating the change may be a little difficult at first, but remember that no one gets to succeed without even trying.
