Live a Healthy Lifestyle, Live a Better Life

How do you value your life? Do you consider each day, each year, added to your life as the most precious gift you can receive? Living a good life requires the utmost care for ourselves to allow us to enjoy this gift, called life. Your health should be the number one priority because regardless of what you have, who you are or what you have achieved in life. If it’s your health at risk, you will not be able to function as how you are supposed to and you will be deprived to enjoy your life. Shift to a healthy lifestyle and take pleasure of living a good life.

Be nice to your body and pay attention to what it needs. Make sure to eat enough every day. Balance your meals to keep your body properly nourished. Have portions of protein, whole grains, good fats, fruits and vegetables at each meal. Eat three meals and don’t forget to add some snacks. Your metabolism functions best if you eat on a similar schedule daily. Eating interval of 4 to 5 hours can guarantee more energy and efficient metabolism.

Stay hydrated.  Your body mainly depends on water to survive. Each cell, tissue and organ in your body needs water to function properly. Water is used to maintain the body’s temperature, eliminate wastes and lubricate your joints. Dehydration makes your body feel tired. Hence, it is best to limit caffeinated drinks. It causes most people to urinate more frequently or feel anxious. Keep a bottle of water with you during the day.

Get enough sleep. It is very common that sleep deprivation increases appetite and decreases your brain function. It is strongly linked to weight gain. Good sleepers tend to eat fewer calories and have improved concentration and productivity. Poor sleep quality and sleeping disorders can be linked to mental health issues, such as depression. After your all day’s work, remember, you deserve a good night’s sleep.

Exercise and stay active. Find a physical activity that you enjoy so it will make exercise more fun and you have something to look forward to as well as help to keep you healthy throughout life. Being active is one of the most important things you can do, each day if you can, for good health. Physical activity can be combined with something you already do. Your common routine like grocery shopping, walking the dog, or even doing household chores are some of the things to keep you active.

Think positive thoughts. Refrain from negative self-talk to reduce stress. How you see a glass, half-empty or half-full can determine how you see things and your attitude towards yourself and life. Your perception will have an effect on your health. Positive thinking may benefit you in a lot of ways. It increases life span, lowers levels of distress, better psychological well-being, and better coping skills during hardships and times of stress. So, keep the positivity ruling and do your best to look at life as if "the glass is half full."

The list can go on and how you wanted to get your life better may vary from one person to another. But the most important thing to remember is that you alone can make a big difference in your health, well-being and life in general. Start today and take charge of your life. Always think that any small behavior changes can make a big leap to your life.
