Keep the Youth in You - The Art of Aging Gracefully

The key to healthy aging is a healthy lifestyle. You have to face it, no one loves the idea of getting old. Every year, the number of candles on our birthday cake gets a little daunting. However, we have to keep in mind that with age comes wisdom, experience, expertise and respect. Getting old should not mean despair. It is a reason to celebrate life. There are plenty of ways we can age with grace, beauty, peace and joy.

How do we ensure that our best is yet to come? Do you want to age in reverse and beat the constantly-ticking aging clock? There are natural age-erasers strategies we can do to age gracefully and to enjoy our lives to the fullest.

Have a Break. Stress causes physical changes in our body which accelerates aging, so give yourself a break. Put a stop to all that stressors. Meditate, keep moving and keep your emotional habits healthy. Go on a trip and spend time with some most important people in your life. Nothing beats having a quality time with your family. Good relationships with friends and loved ones are very vital to a healthy lifestyle. Take a walk in the park. Eat your favorite food. Listen to a feel-good music. Laughter releases endorphins which are essential to improve our mood and it decreases the level of stress-causing hormones.
Lack of sleep is also one key cause of aging. When you wake up from a restless night, you can notice that your skin looks dull and lifeless. It is during our sleep when our skin cells build and repair themselves. Make sure to keep a good sleeping habit. Get a seven to eight hours of uninterrupted sleep. Give yourself a time to relax before hitting the sack. A good sleep is one of the most effective stress busters.

Get off the couch. Regular exercise can help us think clearly, boost our mood and build healthier bones. When we are physically conditioned, stress and anxiety are also reduced. Move often, exercise keeps us young, it slows aging at the cellular level. It improves our overall sense of well-being. You can find an exercise that you enjoy. It doesn’t need to be a too vigorous routine, it could be as simple as walking, jogging or yoga. What’s important is you’ll find enjoyment in what you do and you get to stick with it.
Do not fight the tide. It is all about outlook. Start by accepting that nothing is permanent and always try to look for the good in every situation. The fact is, aging is inevitable. Maintaining a good attitude can help you enjoy getting older. Healthy aging is cultivating a positive outlook.

Live in the moment. Don’t get your eyes affixed on the horizon, just embrace the present. Stay engaged, alive and connected to the people and events around us at the moment. Learn mindfulness. In reality, the best way to age gracefully is to simply focus on HAPPINESS. Discover the things and activities that bring you the most satisfaction and joy. Once known, incorporate them into your daily life or as often as possible. Let go of complications, always choose happiness. Embrace simplicity. Simplifying and discovering what really makes you happiest is important.

Remember, live well to age well. To prolong your youth, make an effort to get into this healthy lifestyle. Do things that you love the most. When you love what you do, every day is like a vacation. You will enjoy life and it will make you feel young and vibrant no matter what age you are.
