2020 is predicted to be even bigger in terms of plant-based foods. It is poised to shine this year, giving way to health enthusiasts. People will tend to be more health-conscious this year, but that doesn’t mean going vegan or adopting a vegetarian lifestyle. It is more of adjusting proportion as people is coming into realization of the small changes which environmental and health impacts can have.
Going over natural remedies over prescription. Self-medication thru internet research is a trend that is picking up lots of steam. People are finding ways to help themselves without a prescription. There is now a slow change on the mindset back in the time when we religiously follow doctor’s orders and take medication prescribed without any question. We are transitioning to considering natural remedies over trips to the pharmacy. This will even heighten in 2020.
Healthy Home Cooking. Whenever you go out to dine in a resto of fast food, you may end up taking 300 or more extra calories than if you cook and eat at home. One of the key factors in leaning towards a healthier lifestyle is preparing your own meals. It is a tangible way to find connection and meaning through food, it even gathers your friends and family at the table again. Home cooking is set up to bring us back together in 2020.
Going for mental health. As important as gut health, people will consider prioritizing brain food as well. Researches reveal that there is a connection between the gut and the brain. Mental health is a driving force on some key issues like concentration and memory. Trend will be leaning towards foods and supplements which will aid and influence neurotransmitter production and usage like omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B.
Prioritizing Sleep and Relaxation. It became a public awareness last year that sleep is vital to one’s health. It is expected to intensify even more how important sleep is. Nap bars where professionals take a quick power nap is also expected to grow more and continuously pop up in the metro areas. Giving almost same attention to sleep, people will look forward to more wellness vacations this year. It will be a continuous, growing realization that a vacation should not leave you with a feeling like you need a vacation. It should be a balance of relaxation and having fun with a side of activity, healthy eating and some meditation. Now, that sounds like a plan.
Less Sugar. People are becoming more and more aware that excessive sugar intake is the real culprit. The drive for this awareness has been heightened as well. As early as the start of the year, FDA will require all large food manufacturers to identify and indicate how much added sugar is in their food. Sugars naturally found in fruits and vegetables, when taken moderately, remains to be considered healthy sources. Stick with them.
