Detox Tips – Getting Rid of Toxins

Looking for ways to recharge, cleanse and rejuvenate? Detox has been a practice thru centuries to rest, get rid of toxins and nourish our body from the inside out. By eliminating toxins, then refilling and feeding our body with healthy nutrients, detoxifying will help guard us from diseases and renew our ability to keep up an optimum health.

Start with Water. Aside from being a thirst quencher, water does so much more for our body. Hydration is likely the healthiest detox you’ll give to your body. It detoxifies the body by kicking your liver to flush out waste products or build-up toxins. It also regulates the body temperature, aids in digestion and nutrition absorption.

Cutting down on Sugar, Salt and Processed Foods. One way to do a healthy detox is simply decreasing the amount of sugar intake. Go for natural sugars if the cravings persist, it will help nip the need for sweetness. High consumption of processed or junk foods has been linked to obesity and other chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart diseases and even cancer. These diseases will hinder our body to naturally detoxify itself because it is affecting and harming the vital organs which play an important role like our kidneys and liver. This may sound counterintuitive but increasing your water intake is one of the great ways to eliminate excess water weight due to consuming too much salt. When we have high salt intake and less of water, the body releases an antidiuretic hormone which prevents us from urinating, thus preventing detox as well. When we increase our water intake and decreases salt intake which causes water retention, our body reduces the antidiuretic hormone secretion and will cause frequent urination, so we eliminate more water, toxins and waste products.

Go for Antioxidant-rich Foods and Drinks. Antioxidants include vitamin A, C, E, lycopene, selenium and zeaxanthin. They protect our cells from damage caused by free radicals from exposure to pollutants, poor diet, tobacco smoke and alcohol. To help our body fight oxidative stress caused by these excessive free radicals, we have to choose a healthy diet, rich in antioxidants. It is best to incorporate berries, fruits, vegetables, cocoa and nuts to our diet and go for drinks like coffee and green tea.

Get Active and Move More. Another form of healthy detox is regular exercise. It regulates and encourages circulation in the blood system. Exercise is also associated with a reduced risk of many chronic diseases. Amongst other list of benefits derived from regular exercise, reduced inflammation is a key point. We should know that reduced inflammation will help our system function properly and protect us against diseases. Staying active will also enhance digestion, strengthen your body, reduce tension and lubricate joints. So get moving.

Enough and Quality Sleep. This may sound new to you, but sleeping allows your brain to recharge itself and remove toxic wastes that have accumulated throughout the day. Sleep deprivation, on the other hand, may cause toxin build up and affects several factors in our health like lack of focus, energy and if continuous, may also be linked to anxiety, stress, chronic disease like heart disease, type 2 diabetes and obesity.

Our body has its own efficient detoxification system. These tips are meant to enhance and improve our overall health. In our day to day living, we get exposed to toxic substances, hence, it is best to remove them with these additional help.
